WIND Hellas: Implements for the first time in Greece the next generation of 5GSA networks for robotics applications

WIND Hellas in collaboration with Myrmex Inc. (Material Handling Robotics) implements for the first time in Greece the next generation of 5G Stand Alone (5GSA) networks for robotics applications. This is the first fifth generation network in our country that uses this technology and is the last word in network architecture, as the company states in a relevant announcement.

5GSA technology is essential for providing high bandwidth, low latency and high reliability, essential for smooth and secure operation in Industry 4.0, areas that fifth-generation networks will radically reshape in the near future .

In this case of collaboration, the 5GSA networks create the network infrastructure to make the transition from the advanced robotics application currently implemented with the existing mobile network, to the collaborative robotics called Cobots or Collaborate robots. Cobots have the ability to accurately and quickly perform simple and complex tasks and can be used in a wide range of applications in various industries and logistics. 5GSA is the most suitable technology for such applications that can be widely developed.

The General Manager of WIND Hellas Nikos Panopoulos pointed out: "At WIND we work with the aim of putting Greece on the map of advanced countries of Industry 4.0 and vertical digitization. Through this collaboration we develop the application of collaborative robotics and 5G network architecture. "We are opening a new world of possibilities for the Industry of our country. Another innovation for WIND and for the development of the fifth generation networks nationwide."

Such networks have only been developed in very advanced countries such as the USA, South Korea and Germany. In fact, according to a recent survey, only 37% of mobile providers have stated that they will develop 5GSA services within the next 2 years.

The CEO of Myrmex, George Katiniotis, underlined: "Myrmex contributes dynamically with its know-how to the creation of innovative Robotic Material Handling and Smart Manufacturing solutions addressed to the global market. We are glad that companies trust us with this dynamic WIND Hellas. cooperation is only the beginning ".

It is worth noting that Myrmex announced that the company Ocado recently acquired a minority stake. Ocado is widely recognized as the world leader in online retail through robotic solutions.
